Understanding the need:
I start by listening and clarifying business objectives and performance outcomes. I look at patterns, and I pay attention to how people describe their work, where they feel stuck, and what arises in focus groups and one to one conversations. I notice constraints and use this information to shape solutions that fit the reality of the work.
From there, I work to understand what is driving the challenge. Sometimes it is a true skill or knowledge gap. Other times it reflects an unclear process, a missing tool, environmental barriers, or inconsistent expectations. My goal is to create the conditions for change, with learning as one part of a broader solution.
Scoping the solution:
Not every problem needs a course. Sometimes the answer is a job aid, a workflow change, a conversation guide, or clearer expectations. I work with stakeholders to map the full system—tools, processes, norms, and gaps—and determine where learning fits and where other interventions will have more impact.
When learning is the right lever, I turn discovery into a focused plan that defines the audience, learning objectives, success measures, and constraints. This helps us choose the right format and depth from the start, whether that is a live session, an interactive module, a microlearning series, or a small ecosystem of supports that work together.
Designing the experience:
I design with adult learning principles in mind: making content relevant to real work, chunking information to reduce cognitive load, and creating opportunities for practice and application.
In practice, that means:
Aligning practice to real tasks, not abstract concepts
Chunking and sequencing content so it is easier to absorb and apply
Creating assets that teams can reuse in the flow of work
Testing and iterating based on feedback
I work in focused cycles so we can move efficiently without trading effectiveness for speed.
Working together:
With stakeholders and subject matter experts, I draw on their expertise to clarify the problem, agree on a small set of outcomes, and co-create solutions.
I can drive the process when needed or integrate into an existing structure. I invite focused input at agreed upon milestones and share early sketches so we can test and refine together.
The goal is to stay anchored on whether the final solution will hold up in the day-to-day work of the people using it.
